Vivo announces Y300 Pro with flagship X100 Ultra-like back design

Vivo has officially announced the Y300 Pro, a new mid-range Android phone with a back design resembling the top-end X100 Ultra. It will be fully unveiled on September 5 in China, but the company’s vice president has already shared some key features of the smartphone.

The Vivo Y300 Pro is set to be fully unveiled on September 5 in China, and per the official announcement, the new mid-range Android phone will come with a back design similar to the Vivo X100 Ultra, a top-end flagship smartphone launched earlier this year.

While the Y300 Pro is still a few days away from launch, Jia Jingdong, the vice president of Vivo, has shared some key details of the new Android phone. Among all of them is the quad-curved display on the front, and it’s the first time the company has used such a screen on its smartphones.

Jia Jingdong says that the design will offer a “fully symmetrical” outlook and will make it look premium. As for the panel of the Vivo Y300 Pro, it will feature SGS certification for anti-flicker and blue light filtering. It also has a 5,000 nits peak brightness rating.

Moving to the back of the Y300 Pro, the camera island is very similar to the phones in the Vivo X100 series. The company calls it “360-degree sun design,” and the new mid-range Android phone has a dual-camera setup with a 50 MP primary sensor. The front will sport a 32 MP selfie shooter.

Besides that, the Vivo Y300 Pro will be dustproof and “all-weather  rainproof.” While Jia Jingdong didn’t offer further clarification on the latter, it could mean that the phone could feature an IP68 or IP53 rating.

Other highlights shared by the vice president include a Silicone-Carbon battery, similar to the one found in the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, with a 6,500 mAh capacity and 80W fast charging support (Anker 737 120W charger curr. $59.99 on Amazon). The phone will also feature a slim form factor, measuring 7.69 mm in terms of thickness.
